10/27/2021 08:00 AMLauren S. Gister, Marine Corps veteran, attorney, and a Chester community leader, has been the first selectman of Chester since 2015. She presently serves our town on the Board of Selectmen, the Lower Connecticut River Land Trust, and the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments.
Lauren S. Gister is a leader, a negotiator, a preservationist, and an economic force for the Town of Chester. She is all the aforementioned things coupled with approachability. She has a vital present throughout Chester. One can walk up to her and her border collie and speak of “all things Chester.” She easily answers questions about diverse and inclusive housing opportunities, the need to revitalize blighted properties, the desire to make our town more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly, recreational areas, and the latest movie filmed on Main Street as well as the upgrading of local technological services. Lauren Gister does this all while shepherding a responsible town budget aimed at protecting the taxpayer while providing town services.
Lauren Gister has seen our town through potential floods, snow storms, power outages, and the ongoing COVID pandemic. She has kept us informed of services, opportunities, and projects in production through the Chester Newsletter.
Lauren Gister is my first selectman without a doubt. I look forward to her service in the upcoming term.
