Fair and Balanced Oversight

I wholeheartedly support having school resource officers in Old Saybrook! The issue of whether to have school resource officers in our local schools continues to be discussed at a national, state, and, yes, local level. In fact, just last year, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy and many Democrats in Hartford wanted to eliminate school resource officers, so why is it not OK to discuss this issue? To say that this issue has never arisen in the Town of Old Saybrook is not entirely accurate.

Let’s not so quickly forget that our Old Saybrook Police Department was there for the community during COVID and their incredibly successful mask drives and vaccine clinics. Our officers are there to protect us from the uptick in car thefts and break-ins, which has become a statewide problem. Therefore, on Nov. 2, I will be supporting the Republican candidates for the Police Commission who are committed to fair and balanced oversight: Eric Dussault, Jeff Jordan, Susan Quish, and Katie Toolan. These four will work for the town and ensure Old Saybrook continues to be a wonderful and safe place to live and raise a family.
