Don’t Be Fooled

I beg the wonderful residents of Guilford to come together despite our party affiliations, despite our perceived differences, despite anything that may divide us, and take a stand against the indoctrination of our children by supporting the Board of Education candidates on Row B.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Freedman spent $6,000 of taxpayer money to purchase 300 copies of the book “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi and distributed it to every teacher in the Guilford School District. He opened the door to the political indoctrination of our children with the purchase of Kendi’s radical book. Don’t be fooled by the many names for Critical Race Theory (CRT) as it sneaks into our school: cultural awareness, diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, etc. It’s time to open our eyes and see that CRT by any other name is a Marxist indoctrination of our children.

We still retain the ultimate authority over our educational system. We the people of Guilford can come together and prevent school administrators from teaching political indoctrination in our schools. The public school system should never teach or promote politically charged material to our students. Our children deserve education free from political brainwashing. Core subjects—math, English, science, and geography—should be the focus, not making our youngest and most vulnerable residents into political pawns.

So much is at stake with this issues. There’s so much more that unites us than divides us. The residents and students of Guilford are not victims and we are not oppressors! We are families, neighbors, friends, and residents with the same priorities: fair and unbiased education for our children. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
