Communicating Honestly and Directly

As the first selectman of Old Saybrook for the last 10 years, I want to say that it has been my honor and privilege to serve the town’s residents with Scott Giegerich as my partner on the Board of Selectmen. I have met with thousands of residents over the years. Communicating honestly and directly and, most important, with civility has been a primary focus.

Over the last 10 years, we have re-shaped our town government: We have revamped a formerly opaque budget process, greatly improved town finances, increased investment in capital projects, and hired professional staff in Town Hall that will preserve the positive structural changes that have been made. Over the next two years, we will continue to address the town’s agenda as we have done over the past 10 years: in a deliberate, thoughtful, open, and honest manner.

Our local Republicans have been at the forefront of all this good work. We are not guided by state or federal party directives, but we do what is best for our community. I hope Old Saybrook’s voters will consider the superior team that the Republicans have placed in nomination this year: Susan Quish, Katie Toolan, Jeff Jordan, and Eric Dussault for Police Commission; Paul Carver and Brad Thorpe for Board of Finance; Barbara Labriola for treasurer; Kevin Danby, Chuck Gadon, and Paul Delmonico for Zoning Board of Appeals; Paula Kay for Planning Commission; Peter Gallagher and Matt Diamond for Board of Assessment Appeals; Jim Henderson for Parks & Recreation Commission; and Gerri Lewis, Marc Delmonico, and Bob Friedmann for Zoning Commission.

This team will work hard for Old Saybrook and I hope your readers will consider voting for them. I thank residents for the opportunity to serve Old Saybrook for another two years.
