A Desire to Give Back

My name is Dylan Stella. I am an 18-year-old college student and running as a write-in candidate for the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) alternate. If elected, I would be one of the youngest persons elected to public office in Connecticut history. I have lived in Madison my whole life. I have benefited from our wonderful schools and incredibly supportive community. I am driven to public service by a desire to give back for everything this community has given me and my family.

I offer a fresh perspective, problem-solving skills, and a new model for public service. I will make it a top priority to respond to everything I get from my constituents (although I can’t comment on specific cases, due to ethics issues). I also believe that the ZBA should be a nonpartisan position. Its job is to decide cases as they apply to local and state law. Therefore, political opinions on zoning policy and party affiliation should be left at that door. I will thus make fair and impartial rulings, with the safety of the community my top priority.

While I don’t have any formal experience, I have spent the last few months extensively studying state and local zoning law, and getting acquainted with the zoning process. I am confident I can become a valuable asset to the ZBA. I would sincerely appreciate it if your readers would give me a chance to make history while serving our community. They can vote for me by writing in my name under one of the ZBA Alternates columns (it should be boxes 15C/16C). There are two seats up for election on the Alternates panel, so your readers can vote for both Steven Bischoff and me if they wish.
