Maintaining the Excellent Reputation

I served on the Guilford Board of Education for 12 years and this is one of the major reasons why I feel comfortable expressing my opinion about the candidates running for the board this year. I began my career as a pediatric nurse, and going full circle, retired after 12 years as a Kindergarten teacher. My husband, Dick, was a local pediatrician and a tireless advocate for children. We have resided in Guilford for 46 years and our three children graduated from the Guilford schools.

We feel qualified to weigh in on the important fact that the five candidates who are elected on Nov. 2 must be prepared and qualified to make potentially very serious decisions about the health of the students and the community because of the pandemic. We were very excited and hopeful after watching the Democrat and Independent candidates introduce themselves. While maintaining the excellent reputation we have achieved, they will also be effective decision makers regarding student health. I encourage your readers to listen to their message and vote for rows A and C.
