Insight, Equanimity, and Experience

Former Old Saybrook selectwoman Carol Manning, running for a two-year term on the Police Commission, will bring insight, equanimity, and experience to her work as police commissioner. I invite your readers to join me in voting for Carol with confidence and enthusiasm on Nov. 2.

A UMass alum and longtime Old Saybrook resident with a successful 34-year career as a biology and chemistry teacher in a public high school, Carol is dedicated to formulating and implementing practical solutions. As a teacher who has shepherded thousands of students on a path to success in their careers and communities, Carol is a patient listener. As a minority selectwoman, Carol studied the issues and spoke out for the good of all residents, even when she knew she might be outvoted. As police commissioner, Carol will work tirelessly to improve citizen oversight as set forth by Connecticut law and the Old Saybrook town charter, expedite better policies for communication by commissioners with stakeholders, and implement an objective multiyear strategic plan involving the input of citizens and experts.

Carol is passionate about building upon the strengths of Old Saybrook’s police service by using reason, data-driven information, and open collaboration. She is a person who gets things done and finds fulfillment in making good systems even better to serve us all.
