An Exceptional Asset

I am writing to support the election of Democrat Jan Taigen to the Chester Elementary School Board of Education. In her more than 30 years of experience in the education field, Jan has held positions as a preschool substitute teacher, science research assistant, and assistant director of UConn Honors Programs. She also served eight years as associate director for education at the UConn Museum of Natural History and 14 years as a middle school science teacher and lead teacher for school scheduling and school kindness initiatives.

Since retiring, Jan has been an outstanding community volunteer as a member of the Chester Rotary Club. In that capacity, Jan served as chair of the Rotary Speech Contest for Valley Regional High School, chair of the Tri-Town Youth Services Room Renovation, chair of the Rotary Community Response to COVID grant for preschool learning kits, and Chester Rotary representative to the Interact Club at Valley Regional. Additionally, Jan serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Tri-Town Youth Services.

It is clear that Jan Taigen is passionate about the education, nurturance, and success of our students. I am certain that she will be an exceptional asset to the Chester Board of Education and I encourage Chester residents to vote for her on Nov. 2.
