The Right Team
Our town has two outstanding candidates for first selectman and selectman: Tom Brockett and Ray Dunbar. As a former first selectman myself (of a nearby New Haven County town, Woodbridge), I understand how important it is to have a team approach to governing. In addition to the obvious, back-up advantage, this team approach allows you to take advantage of different skill sets and different approaches to problem solving.
Both of the Democratic candidates have significant experience they will bring to town decision making. Tom, presently the minority leader on the RTM, has legal experience, military experience as an air traffic controller, and a wealth of town experience including as the commissioner of Branford Baseball. Ray, currently second selectman in Branford and former RTM member, has served our town for 34 years as a police officer, retiring as a captain on the force.
Looking at the challenges that have faced our town in the past year—the damage to homes and businesses during the storms, the disruption and confusion caused by the construction projects in the town center and Stony Creek, the need for revitalization of our downtown, the challenges for children and their families during a very difficult academic year—I know that this is the right team to help us navigate in the future. I enthusiastically support the team of Tom Brockett and Ray Dunbar to lead Branford forward.
