Honest and Transparent

My name is Jeff Jordan and I am excited to be running for a seat on the Old Saybrook Police Commission. My wife and I moved to Old Saybrook 20 years ago because we couldn’t imagine a better place to raise our two young sons (now three sons). We love this community and serving on the commission will be one small way for me to give back.

I believe effective oversight needs to be honest and transparent, but it doesn’t need to be overly adversarial. If the voters entrust me with one of these seats, here is what I’ll do. One, I will conduct myself in a professional manner and show respect and courtesy to both the Old Saybrook Police Department and all citizens who wish to express themselves at our meetings. Two, I will do my homework and ask tough, smart, and relevant questions. The public portion of our monthly meetings is only 60 to 90 minutes and I will not waste a single moment on rehashing unsubstantiated rumors, innuendo, and hearsay. Three, I will fight with everything I’ve got to protect our exceptional School Resource Officer (SRO) Program in its current form, not in some new, reimagined form. The SRO needs be an armed individual trained in law enforcement. Period. My youngest son attends Old Saybrook Middle School and this point is non-negotiable.

Thank you for your attention. I hope your readers will seriously consider voting for Jeff Jordan and the other outstanding Republican candidates running for a seat on the Police Commission on Nov. 2.
