A True Public Servant

I wanted to be sure to submit my contribution to Letters to the Editor in support of the re-election of Roberta Gill-Brooks for tax collector for the Town of Branford. When Bobi ran for the position and was re-elected four years ago, she promised to cultivate an office that places customer service and customer courtesy above everything else. Needless to say, she has done that!

Bobi says the customer is not always right; however, the customer is always the customer and should be treated as such. As the tax collector, she did not want to just be a transactional department head, but wanted to be a transformational one. Despite pressure and scrutiny from others, she has maintained the excellent collection rate that Branford is known for, under unprecedented circumstances. She has led the tax office through the retirements of her entire team of seasoned staffers. Even with periods of being short-staffed, she and her team updated antiquated office processes, and maintained tax collecting with no gap during COVID-19 and the governor’s executive orders.

With hard work, dedication, extra hours, and a never-ending positive attitude, Roberta is who we need to remain in office, and who we need to see as an example of a true public servant to Branford. I will be voting for her re-election, and I encourage others, regardless of party affiliation, to vote for her as well. As she puts it: Results matter. Courtesy counts. Roberta talks the talk and walks the walk.
