Service, Transparency, and Accountability

My name is Ed Tessman and I am running for re-election to the Board of Police Commissioners. I have served as a police commissioner for the last eight years and am running for a third term.

The Clinton Police Department is not the same department it was eight years ago and we have seen a dramatic shift in how law enforcement is perceived and viewed by others, not only in Clinton but around the country. Our department will continue to change and evolve given the needs of our community, the issues the men and women of the department face on the street, and the need to drive transparency and accountability.

I am proud to say that I was part of a group that brought Chief Vincent DeMaio to Clinton. The Town of Clinton has a great police department that is respected and proactive, seen as being ahead of the curve and not in a position of playing catch up to meet a state mandate or regulation. When was the last time you read about an ethics violation or complaint? When was the last time you read about an officer grievance or lawsuit against the department?

The foundation from which the Board of Police Commissioners is run has been solid for the last eight years. That foundation will remain intact if I am re-elected. I have always served based on what is in the best interest for the Town of Clinton. As a steward of taxpayer’s money, party politics and personal agendas have no place at the table. I ask your readers again for their votes this November to continue to drive service, transparency, and accountability in Clinton.
