09/15/2021 08:00 AMAs a longtime resident, member of the Local Veterans Advisory Committee, and one who believes in service to my town of Clinton, I am excited by the three Democratic candidates running for the Town Council in November. All have served our community admirably in various roles.
Carrie Allen demonstrates fortitude and organizational skills as chairman of the Bike & Pedestrian Alliance Committee, which worked to help create the Clinton Blue/Greenway. She serves on the Sustainability Committee and volunteers in the Food for All community garden. With the Clinton Arts Council, she was instrumental in creating the First Thursday program celebrating local arts and performers.
Since settling here in 1989, Paul Gebauer has worked to improve our town. He led the formation of the Sustainability Committee that created the Clinton Arts Council. Paul founded the Energy Committee, serving as chairperson. He was responsible for the installation of an electric charging station at Town Hall, managed solar installations at two schools and two residential solar campaigns, and currently is working with Eversource on local business energy concerns.
Chris Passante was born and grew up in Clinton where he has raised his family. Having earned an MBA, he works as a financial consultant. Chris serves on the Board of Education and the Park & Recreation Commission. A familiar face to many young players, he coaches youth basketball, baseball/softball, and soccer. Recently, Chris was instrumental in the creation of our new Clinton Human Rights Committee.
I am pleased we have these outstanding candidates who will act to develop an economic development plan and prioritize projects such as downtown beautification and the future of Pierson School. They plan to improve the public’s ability to fully participate in their town’s important decisions and have demonstrated a commitment to communication, education, public safety, and the environment.
