Very Serious Rights

With great interest I read “Old Saybrook Police Commission Member Calls for Greater Oversight” in the July 15 issue. Commission member Alfred Wilcox alleges that the commission falls short in its responsibilities.

The police have the authority to detain and arrest us. These are very serious rights that should be paramount for the Police Commission. From what Mr. Wilcox states, the commission may be abdicating oversight of this function. I thank Mr. Wilcox for voicing these concerns.
