Lack of Common Sense

At the corners of Lynde Street, Pennywise Lane, and Old Boston Post Road there are four large red signs that say STOP. Apparently people pick and choose to whom that applies. Sorry to say, it applies to all unless the emergency vehicles. But even they don’t go through the stop sign at 40 miles per hour.

There are pedestrians of all ages, and animals of all ages that use those crosswalks. There are cars that abide Driving 101, STOP MEANS STOP. Do people forget those two other signs were put up because of the amount of accidents? Are we trying for civil lawsuits and tickets for blatantly not stopping?

If you hurt someone or kill someone, can you live with that forever because the big red sign doesn’t apply to you? In 10 minutes, you can watch 8 to 10 cars blow through it or roll through. Police Chief Micheal Spera can’t have his officers babysitting stop signs because of the lack of common sense by town people. Tourists should know what a stop sign means, too. We’re included in all this.

People don’t need to fear a car is going to land in their house or hit them or their pet. And unless you actually live on the corner, see it, and aren’t one of the ones rolling through, your opinion really doesn’t mean much in the greater scheme of things.

It’s summer. Let’s pay attention to all pedestrians in any cross walk and the big red signs that say STOP. It’s really not that difficult.
