A Flag a Day
I’ve requested that the Town of Madison fly the Italian flag. My grandfather came over from Italy, legally, at the age of 15, opened his own company, and became a success. My father had to drop out of high school to go serve during World War II, getting his GED at the age of 84, because it meant something. Accompanying him into service for this country were several Italian uncles on both my mother’s and father’s side. My husband’s Italian uncle is still listed as missing in action from the Korean War. He was 21.
If the Town of Madison can fly the LGBTQIA flag for people whose only accomplishments are declaring their sexuality then I think they should be flying the flag for people who actually made it so they can fly this flag. I know there are plenty of other countries that should be represented for serving this country, so how about a flag a day for Veteran’s Month, not just a day but a month, just like LGBTQIA month.
And I’m still waiting on a response from the Town of Madison.
