Proud of the Library

We have noticed a half-page advertisement entitled “Old Saybrook Proud” that has recently been run in the Harbor News carries a glaring omission. No mention is made of the Acton Public Library. The library and its staff provide important services to our entire community, and during the pandemic the library staff went above and beyond to provide exceptional service.

They worked tirelessly to give patrons access to materials in conformance with strict health guidelines. The materials were isolated and carefully hand-sanitized. They set up a reservation process and created individual packages for patrons to pick up and use. Internet access was available without charge, and it was rare that one did not see cars parked outside the building taking advantage. Programs were creatively developed via Zoom to provide intellectual and cultural growth and to address important topics of the day such as the Acton for Justice discussion series. All of this was done with a great level of courtesy and respect.

We applaud the library staff for their tireless efforts toward keeping residents and visitors of Old Saybrook informed and connected to the larger community.
