A Huge Thanks

On behalf of the Town of Old Saybrook Historic District Commission, I’d like to give a huge thanks to the many community supporters who generously donated to make it possible to preserve and restore the Crowley Realty Ghost Sign on the historic Sheffield Building at Sheffield and Main. Those funds were matched by Sustainable CT. Hearing from so many in the community how happy it makes them to see the sign restored makes the project even more worthwhile.

We also wish to thank the Community Foundation of Middlesex County for providing a grant that helped fund the project. With additional donations, we hope to restore the remaining half of this sign, advertising for the Stokes Brother’s Store, housed in that building and the hub of the town in its day. Tax deductible donations can be received at Old Saybrook Town Hall Land Use Dept. Clearly this town cares about its history.
