Important and Wonderful Work

I am writing to express my gratitude to state representatives Vincent Candelora (R-86) and Sean Scanlon (D-98) and State Senator Christine Cohen (D-12) for their support of expanding voting rights and ballot access in Connecticut! During 2020 and 2021, our three legislators did the very important and wonderful work of making sure that all of our eligible voters will be able to easily cast a ballot.

Guilford voters will now have ongoing access to the ballot drop box outside of Town Hall and Guilford young people who come of age will have easy access to automatic voter registration that encourages all in Guilford to vote in every election. As we have just come through an incredibly challenging year, I also want to take the time to thank our First Selectman Matt Hoey for his leadership through the pandemic.

It is clear from all of this that elections have consequences. A few years back Guilford won the Democracy Cup from the secretary of the state honoring the exceptional voter turnout in 2018. What pride we can all have in our town. And I am glad to say “thank you” to all of our Guilford elected officials who have worked so hard to make our town the great place to live that it is.

Now I encourage your readers to be sure to register to vote and vote in every election. Our community depends on the participation of everyone!
