Record-Breaking Attendance

On behalf of the Madison Newcomers Club, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Touch a Truck a success—the people of Madison, the attendees, our sponsors, volunteers, and of course, the trucks. After having to cancel last year due to the pandemic, and with rain forecast for this year, the Newcomers Club did not know what to expect. But the rain did not keep people away. Abiding by COVID restrictions of masks and social distancing, we had record-breaking attendance (more than 200 families) and record-breaking fundraising totaling more than $10,000 to support the Madison Newcomers Club’s Scholarship Fund.

We are thrilled to be awarding scholarships to three civic-minded Daniel Hand High School graduating seniors in May. All of this is made possible because of the generous donations at the event and from our sponsors, including our named sponsor, the Rotary Club of Madison. We also cannot forget the stars of the show: the trucks. Seeing the Madison Hose Co #1, North Madison Volunteer Fire Co., and Madison Police, Public Works, Ambulance, Animal Control, and so many other vehicles side-by-side was an impressive sight.

Madison Newcomers Club has served as a meeting ground for women who are new town residents since 1968. The club aims to help members become acquainted with one another and take an active role in the civics and social welfare of our community. New members are always welcome.

We are so grateful for everyone’s support in making this event happen, and look forward to putting on this fun event next year!
