Once Again a Leader

I’d like to commend Chief Michael Spera and the Old Saybrook Police Department (OSPD) for once again making Old Saybrook a leader in the statewide fight against COVID-19.

Recently, the OSPD, in partnership with the Connecticut River Area Health District, delivered vaccines to approximately 400, 16-, 17- and 18-year-old teens at the Old Saybrook drive-thru clinic. While the teens came from all over the shoreline, their common goal was to get back to normal. And our OSPD did everything it could to support an easy registration and even took care of all back-end registration tasks and day-of coordination activities.

With prom and graduation around the corner, getting vaccinated is a key step in being able to celebrate these rites of high school passage. I thank Chief Spera, the OSPD, and our Connecticut River Area Health District for helping our young people to be able to celebrate these special end-of-year activities.
