A Historic Date

April 3, 2006, is a historic Guilford date. At the Board of Selectmen meeting, a special town meeting was considered and rejected. Prior to this meeting, a group of residents had collected thousands of signatures in favor of a special town meeting to allow all to discuss a referendum relative to a Guilford swimming pool in Bittner Park. The board rejected this town meeting.

This is to honor the participants, First Selectman Carl Balestracci and selectmen Charles Bishop, Sal Catardi, Joe Mazza, and Victoria Wallace. Also partners were Town Attorney Judith Ravel, Town Clerk Janice Teft, and Pool Commission member Bill Meiselman.

We had no town meeting and no referendum and the town has no pool. The majority ruled.
