Nite in Hand Needs Help

As this year’s chair of Nite in Hand (NIH), I’d like to thank all of the businesses, Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) parents, school administrators, and Madison town officials for supporting and helping with the monumental task of organizing this year’s event. However, with only two months left, we need your readers’ help with upcoming fundraising events and manpower or quite simply, NIH won’t happen.

NIH 2021 will be outside on the grounds of DHHS on Saturday, June 12 from 7 to 11 p.m.

NIH was created by parents in 1989 as a safe, substance-free celebration that traditionally takes place after the graduation ceremony. All seniors are invited for this non-school-sponsored gathering where the graduates enjoy a night of non-stop activities and food with their peers.

This group of DHHS seniors has endured and missed out on a lot because of COVID: sports and arts talents displayed for the last time, homecoming, pep rallies, prom (there was no junior prom for them), parents and spectators at events and enjoying time with friends, and teachers and peers in person at school.

Your readers can help via the annual NIH Auction on Friday, April 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Camp Laurelwood. The link to register and to donate items and/or time is on the DHHS website. Readers can also help via the NIH tag sale on Saturday, May 15, with the chance to donate gently used items before Sunday, May 9 by emailing a picture with a brief description to niteinhandmain@gmail.com.

Readers can donate $21 via the NIH GoFundMe page. DHHS underclass students and parents can also take an active role to support NIH 2021 both financially and by volunteering so they will be prepared for next year.
