A Measure of Hope

I recently read that 70 percent of the adults over 75 years old received their vaccine inoculations in the State of Connecticut. That’s good news. Old Saybrook is so fortunate to have a vaccine site at the middle school.

I would be remiss if I failed to properly thank the medical and non-medical personnel and volunteers who have been setting up the grounds of the school, registering us, giving shots, and checking on those who received shots. I don’t envy them out in the freezing temperatures, wind and snow. It takes grit and a willingness to provide this service to help others, and we are truly thankful.

My husband and I received both shots at the middle school. Every one was courteous, friendly, and efficient. Less than an hour door to door for both shots—that is amazing.

Many thanks to the many departments that arranged and agreed to provide this service to the citizens of the State of Connecticut and most important those of us who live in Old Saybrook. We are proud to be one of the top states giving out vaccinations and we are confident the next stage of distribution will go just as well.

After a year of fear, illness, and too many deaths, dare we see a measure of hope and optimism?
