One of the Best Things

First, my thanks go to the powers that be in Old Saybrook for plowing my street several times during the Dec. 17, 2020 storm; I really appreciate that. I am also profoundly grateful to my neighbor Roger for not only helping me but two other neighbors on London Court. I was exhausted after spending three hours clearing two-thirds of my driveway; I can’t imagine how I would have managed the rest of it, so I give heartfelt appreciation to said neighbor for using his snow blower on the remainder.

Second, and separately, I am so very grateful for the “freebie table” (as I refer to it) at the Transfer Station in Old Saybrook. I have found countless household items there—mittens, boots, pen holder, Hamilton Beach food processor, and a Cuisinart one (with all the attachments)—to name but a few. It is also a great place to take my trash to hopefully become someone else’s treasure as I continue to donate my parents’ old items. I wish all the towns in Connecticut had such an arrangement like this, accessible to major routes (routes 153 and 9), and well-laid-out with all the different stations clearly marked (paper, containers, yard rubbish, etc.) and urge them to consider making such a place happen, whether here along the shoreline or up north of us. This is one of the best things about Old Saybrook.
