In a Time of Need

As we approach a very different Thanksgiving season, our communities are still struggling with the uncertainty of getting through this pandemic. Our service organizations also have had to change the way we have raised money so that we can be there for our communities, especially in a time of need. The Rotary Club of Deep River has tried to replace our usual, in-person events, like our annual Oktoberfest celebration, with some creative alternatives. This year we put together Oktoberfest baskets for people to purchase so that they could have their own festivities at home. We also hosted, for the first time, an outdoor Cornhole Tournament in October, which provided a fun activity that could go on with masks and social distancing.

These activities would not have been successful without the support of community businesses which sponsored our efforts. At a time of financial insecurity, they stepped up to contribute the funds which made these events a success, and which will enable our club to continue to offer scholarships and contributions to community organizations and programs that make us all better.

And so in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we offer our grateful thanks to these organizations: Essex Saviangs Bank (our largest sponsor), Colanar Inc., Demco, Essex Financial Services, Sound Analytics, Top Notch Electrical, Riverview Lodge, Shore Discount Liquors, Olsen Sanitation, Mahoney Sabol of Essex, Edward Jones Investments of Deep River, Sean Scott Masonry, Liberty Bank, Atwood Auto Body, A Fresh Image Hair Salon, and Whelen Engineering. They are partners with us in helping to make our community a caring and compassionate place!
