Priorities and Values

It is with great enthusiasm that I am casting my vote for State Representative Sean Scanlon (D-98) and Senator Christine Cohen (D-12). Our community is so fortunate to have the benefit of their leadership, expertise, strong work ethic, and compassion especially during these difficult times we face together. Sean and Christine work as a team, reaching out to their colleagues across the political aisle to achieve positive outcomes on economic, health, public safety, and environmental issues. They work very hard to represent the priorities and values of our community.

As co-chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, Sean has demonstrated great leadership in passing quality of life legislation including such issues as the capping of copay for insulin at $25 per month. He was compassionate to the Song family as they worked together to pass Ethan’s Law to encourage responsible gun storage. On behalf of his constituents, Sean took aggressive action to find solutions to problems during our recent extended power outages as he continues to keep us informed regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christine had a stellar first legislative session as co-chair of the Environment Committee and was recognized by the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters as a 2020 Environmental Champion. Among her many accomplishments, Christine created and co-chairs the bi-partisan Coastal Caucus, establishing coordinated efforts to address environmental challenges to our shoreline communities. Christine also co-chairs the legislature’s Bioscience Caucus. As a small business owner she clearly understands the economic pressures on the business community.

I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Senator Christine Cohen and Rep. Sean Scanlon to continue to represent us in the Connecticut Legislature.
