Passion for the Work

Two letters in the Oct. 15 issue were from women, one saying she was of similar age age as State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) and both thanking her for her service but suggesting that it’s time for her to retire [Nancy R. Leckerling, “Visionary Ideas and Leadership,” and Pamela Greene, “Pass the Torch”]. It’s interesting that both of these women still are working and haven’t retired. You would suspect ageism is at work here but both of these women have lawn signs up for candidates who are also older than Noreen.

This is just plain politics hiding behind false claims. The lack of transparency in supporting older Democratic candidates while questioning a younger Republican incumbent who has served us for many years is just partisan politics. There have been many good letters for both candidates, unfortunately these two letters stood out for not passing the smell test.

Noreen is a high-energy public servant who continues to have passion for the work and helping her constituents. These are uncertain times and I’m voting for a proven leader. I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Noreen Kokoruda on Nov. 3.
