Make It Happen

I am writing this letter in support of John May for 35th District state representative. I am an unaffiliated voter and have chosen to support John because of his passion to create a strong school/manufacturer partnership. This initiative will provide Clinton students the extraordinary opportunity to learn about engineering while at some of our local high tech manufacturers.

These internships may lead to apprenticeships and good paying careers locally, boosting our local economy, providing employers a local workforce, and attracting new manufacturers to the area. This is an initiative which is a win-win for everyone.

Working for Electric Boat, I’ve become aware of the need for manufacturing training in an age where more of our experts are retiring, taking with them valuable experience and skills that we desperately need. As a parent, I want my kids to know about more choices than the standard law or medicine that I grew up with. Like John, I believe we could take steps to attract our youth and offer them an even more valuable education and training, and perhaps a more attractive career option and I fully support a candidate like John May to make it happen.
