Firsthand Civic Involvement

During the more than two decades Kathy Grant has lived in North Haven, she has been a dedicated and passionate community volunteer in areas of concern to parents, seniors, veterans, and women. Some of her current activities include volunteering at the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and serving on the Town of North Haven Blight Commission. Kathy also served on the Town of North Haven Board of Assessment Appeals from 2014 to 2019 and served three years as treasurer for the League of Women Voters (Hamden-North Haven Chapter) from 2015 to 2018. She was secretary for the Green Acres PTA for a two-year term, served three years as a girl scout troop leader, and eight years as a Christian educator including one year on the Christian Education Board.

Kathy’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology and her work experience covers both the government and private sector. She worked at Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in New Haven and Support Enforcement Division for the New Haven and Meriden Superior Court as a support enforcement officer. Kathy is currently employed at a rehabilitation center in Guilford and works as a per diem teacher for the Wallingford Public Schools. Importantly, as a single parent, she has had the rigorous task of successfully raising three children and, through this and involvement in the PTA, knows the North Haven school system well.

Kathy Grant possesses a concert of experience, hard work, passion, knowledge, and firsthand civic involvement that will make her an excellent state representative to serve the 87th Assembly District and the people of North Haven.
