An Unwavering Commitment

We need responsible housing and development regulations in Connecticut and I am supporting State Representative Joe Zullo (R-99) this year because he has shown an unwavering commitment to making those regulations fairer to towns like East Haven.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a number of dense, controversial housing developments proposed in town. Many of these proposals have relied on the state’s affordable housing laws for passage. Due to those laws, developers have been able to attempt to essentially force the town to approve these dense developments, despite the fact that we already have an incredibly affordable stock of housing in town.

This year, Rep. Zullo was promoted to ranking member on our state’s Housing Committee. In that new role, he introduced two pieces of concept legislation that would have opened up more housing opportunities for first-time homebuyers while seeking to button up loopholes in the state’s affordable housing laws often exploited by developers. I support Rep. Zullo’s efforts in these areas. We need to continue maximizing housing opportunities, but we also need to make sure that our housing regulations work fairly for communities like ours.

We have a strong voice in State Rep. Zullo on the housing committee in Hartford and I am supporting his re-election because I know he will fight to make our housing laws fairer to towns like East Haven.
