A Wealth of Leadership

I am writing to express my support for April Capone for the 34th District State Senate seat. April would bring a wealth of leadership and government experience to the role of state senator and would be a strong advocate for the best interests of the residents of the 34th District.

As mayor of East Haven from 2007 to 2011, April faced the challenge of seeing her town through the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene, which battered the Connecticut shoreline. She ordered the evacuation of coastline residents in East Haven, against the wishes of many, but when all was said and done, no one was injured by the storm. April made the right call and stood her ground. She also worked with residents affected by the storm to ensure they had all the support they needed from town, state, and federal programs.

Now, the state is beset by the even greater challenge of COVID-19, which has touched everything from education to the economy, as well as public health and the health care system. Having not only served as mayor but also the manager of intergovernmental affairs at the State of Connecticut’s Office of Policy and Management, where she served as municipal liaison between state government and all 169 towns and cities, April is uniquely prepared to address the needs faced by Connecticut’s residents during and after the pandemic. She knows how our government works, and she knows how to make it work for the people.

April would be a powerful voice in Hartford for the 34th District. I encourage your readers to vote for April Capone on Nov. 3!
