Advocacy and Leadership

When the pandemic first hit in Connecticut, there was a very good chance my business, a marina, and others like it would be forced to close. If that was the case, we would miss the summer boating season, which generates millions of dollars in state tax revenues.

Fortunately, State Representative Devin Carney (R-23) went to bat for us and helped gain an “essential business” status for us. We were able to remain open and serving our customers while rigorously adhering to safety measures such as social distancing, use of facial masks, and increased disinfecting and cleaning.

I cannot overstate how important this designation has been for the recreational boating sector in Connecticut. Many thanks go to Rep. Carney for his advocacy and leadership on this issue.
