Will Carry the Torch

When I reflect on the work of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG), I think of the enormous contributions she made to ensuring the equality of the sexes. She was a champion for women and their constitutional rights to equality, and trail blazed a path for future generations of women. Women like State Representative Robin Comey (D-102) and State Senator Christine Cohen (d-12), both strong and independent, will undoubtedly carry the torch for RBG and her call for equality as they seek re-election in November 2020.

Robin Comey has been known to say, “When women do well, families and the economy do well.” To that end, she supported paid family leave and a higher minimum wage for all of Connecticut, as did Christine Cohen. Both are staunch believers in a woman’s right to choose their paths for reproductive health, and both believe that women should be in control of their futures, their lives, their careers, and their decisions regarding their bodies. Their values are in line with RBG’s philosophy regarding the right to choose in all areas of life.

I proudly endorse both State Representative Robin Comey and State Senator Christine Cohen for second terms. They are the only candidates qualified to carry on the hard-fought work of RBG, who challenged convention in order to stand up for the constitutional right for women’s equality. I encourage others to similarly endorse them by voting in their favor on Nov. 3, 2020.
