Breath of Fresh Air

My name is Frank Alvarado and I’m writing this letter in support of Democratic candidate for the 87th District of the Connecticut House of Representatives Kathy Grant. I have been a North Haven resident since 2016 and a member of the North Haven Democratic Town Committee (DTC) for several years. During the time that I have been on the DTC I have gotten to know Kathy as the chair of the North Haven DTC and for her passion on behalf of North Haven and all the people that live here.

I am supporting Kathy because of her stance on many issues, among them tax relief. Kathy supports reforming our system of property taxes to support middle-class working families. She is on board with creating tax fairness for the small businesses of North Haven, giving them the same advantages as large corporations. During this period of COVID-19, Kathy understands that it will take innovative initiatives to help our small businesses recover from this pandemic. As a single parent of three children, Kathy understands the importance of access to health care for all and will fight to lower cost for health care and medications that often cause people to make a decision between putting food on the table or paying for medications.

Other issues of concern to Kathy and that she will fight for are increasing the emphasis on special education programs, early intervention for students who are struggling academically, and making sure that North Haven receives its fair share of ECS funding.

For these reasons and the fact that Kathy would bring a breath of fresh air to the Connecticut House of Representatives, I enthusiastically support Democrat Kathy Grant for state representative.
