There for Me

A few months ago, the COVID-19 pandemic forced my employer to temporarily close up. I filed for unemployment, expecting the Department of Labor to be there for me during this difficult time. Sadly, my benefits got delayed. Week after week I would sit on hold with the Department of Labor trying to get someone on the phone to help me. It got so frustrating that I almost gave up.

However, when I had almost lost hope, I happened to talk to someone who encouraged me to contact State Representative Joe Zullo (R-99). He gave me his personal cell phone number and he, along with his aide, worked to get my claim resolved with the labor department. After a short time, I woke up one morning to find all of my past-due benefits deposited in my bank account. I couldn’t have been more thankful, or relieved.

I didn’t know Rep. Zullo before I contacted him for my unemployment issue, but I have come to know him now as someone I can trust and rely on. He was there for me, even to the point of sharing his cell phone with me and fielding daily text messages from me. That is the kind of service our residents deserve and one of the reasons I’ll be supporting him on Nov. 3.
