Take On This Emergency

I encourage your readers to vote like their lives depends on it, because they do! We continue to face a national crisis related to the effects of climate change. It’s a crisis that we are failing to address with the urgency that it requires. I am writing this letter in support of State Senator Christine Cohen because I believe she is the best candidate for the Connecticut State Senate in District 12 to take on this emergency and to fight for the actions necessary to aid in derailing this crisis.

State Senator Christine Cohen is the chair of the State Environment Committee. Her hard work resulted in the ban of single-use plastic bags in our state beginning in the year 2021. Single-use plastic is a worldwide environmental issue and every small step to curtail this human convenience is helpful. State Senator Cohen represents several of Connecticut’s shoreline towns where the evidence of plastic washing up on our beautiful coastline is evident.

State Senator Cohen is also the co-chair of a committee that she created called the Coastal Caucus Committee. This committee focuses on issues facing coastal towns. The issues are many and include but are not limited to: coastal flooding, sea level rise, polluted air and water, more frequent and intense storms, and frequent loss of power to thousands of residents.

State Senator Cohen works tirelessly for her constituents not only on climate issues but on so much more. Her daily updates on Connecticut’s COVID numbers are greatly appreciated by her constituents. Readers can check them out on her Facebook page or learn more about State Senator Christine Cohen on her website www.senatedems.ct.gov/cohen.
