Livelihood Shouldn’t Suffer

Bullying is alive and well in Madison and I’m not talking about kids, I’m talking about adults. For purely political purposes, Democratic Town Committee Chair Joan Walker took advantage of a silly comment by my wife Eileen Banisch to start a terror campaign against her. Joan took her post and splashed it all over Facebook and got her colleagues to follow suit.

The chamber received several letters; one listed 39 Guilford or Branford residents except one person from Madison, Beth Skudder. The interesting thing about these letters is that, upon checking, I found out that they are almost all Democrats. Sound political?

Eileen apologized on Facebook and was told it wasn’t good enough. She apologized again with the same result. She also apologized directly to State Senator Christine Cohen (D-12), who accepted it and said she wanted to move on.

So why do the Democrats continue to harass Eileen? Politics. They want to destroy her. Who would believe that this would happen in Madison?

When Cohen’s Bagels was threatened with a boycott for Christine’s vote on the police bill, Democrats cried foul. Her livelihood shouldn’t suffer because of her political views. I agree. Then why is it okay for Democrats to bully and harass Eileen for a much lesser action?

Joan Walker and her band attacked and bullied me during my four years as first selectman. When does the bullying stop? More importantly, what must their children think?
