I am proud to endorse John-Michael Parker for state representative in the 101st District. I first knew John-Michael as the band director of VIBE and was captivated by his commitment to the group as well as his kindhearted and friendly nature. Since then, John-Michael has shown time and time again that he cares deeply about investing in our youth and is dedicated to listening to the concerns and ideas of my generation. He has fostered a welcoming space for young adults to get engaged in the issues they care about and has already built an empowered community of students in our district and beyond that are passionate about fighting for change.

John-Michael’s experience in education, the arts, and as a non-profit leader has prepared him greatly to meet the concerns of our community with creative, long-lasting solutions. I am confident he will bring his limitless energy to Hartford to fight for issues that will define our future: environmental justice, racial equity, and accessible healthcare, among others.

As someone who grew up in Madison, John-Michael brings with him a thorough understanding of our town’s infrastructure matched with a new energy and drive our government needs. As a first-time voter, I cannot wait to cast my vote for a leader I know will work tirelessly for a safer, more equitable future. I will be voting for John-Michael Parker for state representative with my absentee ballot this November, and I hope readers will, too!
