Believes in Local Control

The 35th District in the Connecticut General Assembly serving Clinton, Killingworth, and Westbrook has a new choice for who represents it in Hartford other than the two major parties, which are constantly bickering and not serving the people. That candidate is John May of Clinton, who is the Green Party nominee. Don’t believe major party folks who will tell you a third party can’t win. They are only protecting their power. I know John May and fully endorse his candidacy.

Why should your readers support John? First, he supports science, technology, engineering, and manufacturing (STEM) programs in our high schools. This promotes a classroom-to-workforce pipeline for students and employers. So instead tossing non-college-bound students aside, they will gain job skills and exposure to local technical businesses. John will strongly advance the work of our retiring State Representative Jesse MacLachlan (R-35), both at the state level and with his position on Clinton’s Economic Development Commission.

In policing, John stands firmly with the fine men and women of law enforcement. He is against defunding police. They are our barrier to lawlessness. He believes there isn’t any finer local department than the Clinton Police Department. It is a model department that stands for community policing in all its great attributes. Other shoreline towns follow this model.

John believes in local control of our towns and schools. The state raises our property taxes quietly by placing burdensome mandates on towns without providing funding. A new example is body cameras for police, which both police and John support, but are very expensive. Where will that money come from?
