A Salute

Thanks go to all the dedicated volunteers who made our upcoming Water Lantern Celebration a success. Faced with many challenges due to the current COVID-19 situation, it was a challenge to re-envision the celebration from its inaugural event last year. Many hours and much creativity were needed, and our volunteers did not disappoint. Thanks to them, this year’s Water Lantern Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 3 will be even more full of impact in 2020.

The Water Lantern Celebration is a salute to the work done by A Little Compassion and The Nest Coffeehouse in lighting the way for people of all abilities. It’s not too late to join us.

This year’s celebration will be live-streamed from Plattwood Park in Deep River on Oct. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with Sarah Cody from WTNH hosting the event. Lanterns can be purchased at TheNestCoffeehouse.org. Details on picking up and returning lanterns are also on the site. Watch party bags will be given to each participant.

Those unable to attend can purchase a compassion lantern. Compassion lanterns are given to those who would not otherwise be able to participate. Nest staff, Region 4 special ed students and residents of Kirtland Commons and Brian House can now be part of our celebration because of our communities’ generosity.

Last, many thanks go to our corporate sponsors. Even in these difficult times for small businesses, they found a way to support celebration.

I encourage your readers to help Plattwood Park light the way for people of all abilities by visiting TheNestCoffeehouse.org to join our celebration and thank our volunteers for all their hard work.
