Understands the Area Economy

Our local economy is heavily reliant on summer tourism and boating, so it is vital that our local small businesses have the ability to thrive during this time.

State Representative Devin Carney (R-23) has always been there for the tourism industry and has tirelessly fought for our local economy. Devin was one of the founding members of the Tourism Caucus, which is a bipartisan group of legislators working to improve our approach towards tourism. He worked to re-open the Westbrook Welcome Center after years of neglect and, recently, to make it possible for marinas to re-open safely when they weren’t originally included in Governor Ned Lamont’s list of essential businesses. Not to mention, Devin led the charge to reduce taxes on boat sales so Connecticut could better compete with Rhode Island for this sector of the economy. Marinas are vital to our economy and so many businesses rely on our summer boaters and vacationers.

As someone who has lived here his whole life, Devin truly understands the area economy and we will need him next year fighting for local jobs and businesses, just as he as always done.
