In Need of a Counter-Narrative

Your remarks denigrating the Madison Police Department MPD and our conscientious, competent, exceedingly fair-minded leader in town, Eileen Banisch, are exceedingly wrong, examples of faulty reasoning, and greatly in need of a counter-narrative.

Eileen is the ultimate civic leader devoting a great deal of her time to community activities for all ages of residents, good health COVID-9 practices, professional development for anyone requesting it, and jobs for all persons. Anyone can move to Madison and no one is discriminated against. She has shown much compassion for all segments of Madison, for all residents, and a strong view of humanity. She doesn’t favor one ethnic, religious, or cultural group over another. This criticism about her is psychologically devastating to me, unfair, and simply irrational. Any ethnic or cultural group person who can afford the mortgage is encouraged to buy homes in Madison.

In addition, I think the police in our town and state are well-trained, educated, fair-minded, hard-working, and compassionate. As a single person needing help, they have always been here for me. I am a stalwart believer in the intelligence, training, and righteousness of police; those communities that don’t give police respect and support might find themselves without needed police protection.
