To Express our Respect

I would like to add another perspective to the ongoing discussion of the use of the Indian mascot for GHS. I was a member of the Class of 1946 that voted in 1944 to name the first yearbook Menunketuck. That action and the adoption of the Indian as a mascot were taken to express our respect and admiration and to honor those Native people who contributed to what now is the Town of Guilford.

Change the mascot if you will, but do not associate its origin with racism.
