Shame on The Source

Shame on The Source! In the June 18 edition of the paper, you published an article that clearly used the term “police and other racist systems” [“Youth-Led March Continues Black Lives Matter Movement in Madison”]. You did not attribute that as a quote to anybody; you did not use the word “allegedly” to distance yourself from the slur; you did not qualify that you were referring to bad apples. You clearly called the police a racist system.

In the June 25 edition, you posted a letter from Eileen Banisch that called you out on that [“Source Throws MPD Under the Bus”]. But instead of clarifying, correcting, and apologizing, you doubled down and shamed her for pointing out your insult to the police. You now owe apologies to the police and to Eileen.
