Attempt to Evade

Eileen Banisch [June 25 letter to the editor “Source Throws MPD Under the Bus”] was right to call you out for the gratuitous swipe with which you threw together “police and other racist systems” [June 18, “Youth-Led March Continues Black Lives Matter Movement in Madison”]. That’s from the text of your published article.

Your attempt to evade that with another swipe at Eileen that changes the subject and ascribes an ulterior motive to her message is a method commonly used by those who are not able to defend what they said in the first place. If you won’t defend what you say, you probably should not say it.

Eileen said that you owe an apology to the Madison Police Department and you do. You now owe an apology to Eileen as well.
