Thumbs Up to GPD

It’s not easy to be a cop nowadays, and I want to put in a good word for the officers of our Guilford Police Department. Horrific actions by an isolated few police officers elsewhere in the USA have sadly cast an undeserved pall over all police, even here in our home town. Our police officers defend us every day, whether we realize it or not, and when they go to work they never know if they will be harm’s way while keeping you and me and our families safe.

As an out-of-town friend of mine said recently, “I can’t imagine going to work every day not knowing if you’ll be killed.” Our police officers do that, day in and day out, and yet how many of us appreciate their sacrifices?

So, next time your readers see a Guilford police officer patrolling in a cruiser, protecting a road construction job, reaching out to help seniors, calming a domestic dispute, saving an overdose’s life, or preventing a suicide, I encourage them to give him or her a thumbs up!
