Need Is Even Greater

For the past several years, I have called the town’s Public Works Department asking that they do something to control the poison ivy that is thick on the roadsides. I have always been told that this is not possible; the town does not have a truck to do the spraying.

This year, the poison ivy has come back again, thicker than ever. This year, however, the need to control the poison ivy is even greater. With the lockdown required because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many more people are out and about enjoying the good weather on the roads. There are more walkers, runners, and bike riders than usual. Having the thick poison ivy on the roadsides make these activities more dangerous because it is impossible to step off the road to get out of the way of oncoming traffic.

I again implore the town to find a way to make the roads safe for all who travel on them by eradicating the poison ivy.
