A Record-Breaking Success

Sometimes children need to be reminded to say “Thank you,” but when you hear them laughing and screaming with joy on Essex Elementary School’s new swing set later this summer, please take that as a big “thank you” to everyone who supported Family Night at Essex Elementary School on Feb. 28.

The event was a record-breaking success. After expenses, the PTO-sponsored event raised $4,735.67, and after a generous matching donation of $4,500 from the Essex Elementary School Foundation, our grand total was $9,235.67, which more than covers the cost of a new swing set.

Thanks go to the more than 100 families that attended Family Night. Thanks also go to our many volunteers who made the night run smoothly. A huge thanks goes to our corporate sponsors (Saybrook Ford, The Lee Company, Centerbrook Architects, and Essex Savings Bank), which stepped up to the plate to help us reach our ambitious goal. A big thank you goes to the dozens of businesses and organizations that provided amazing prizes. (People are still oohing and ahhing over the selection of prizes!) And of course, a special thank you goes to the Essex Elementary School Foundation for its matching donation to help this new swing set become a reality.

On behalf of the PTO, students, staff, parents, and community, we thank these supporters.

And a special note to all of our local business: the Essex community is great. Once we are back to normal, we will be shopping their stores, eating at their restaurants, and supporting their businesses.
