Not a Show of Leadership

It has become clear that our state senator, Christine Cohen (D-12), has not lived up to our expectations. For more than a year now, we have been threatened with increased taxes via tolls. In that time, Cohen failed to take any position on the issue. Even while massive rallies against the idea were held, she remained silent. No doubt, she was waiting to test the political winds, and to see if her vote would make a difference to the bill’s passage or failure.

This is not a show of leadership in any way. Cohen has voted with Governor Ned Lamont and her party; there is no indication that she would have voted differently on tolls. When will we start to hear about how the state can save money, or increase efficiency? Meanwhile, she voted for increased taxes and fees on countless items and services, and even voted for increased boat taxes. We need to stop with taxes and fees, and demand fiscal responsibility. We are losing our residents, we are losing our business, we our losing our revenue, and its directly attributable to the tax and spend policies of Cohen and her Democrat colleagues.
